Strength in Weakness
I recently read the story in John 9 where a blind-man is healed by Jesus. The story wasn't really anything new to me... but I did catch something new in it, nonetheless. In the story, the disciples ask Jesus why this guy is blind. Did he sin? Did his parents sin? What's the real scoop...? But Jesus said none of that was true. Instead, the man was merely blind for the purpose that God's power could be portrayed through him. In Jesus' words, "This happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life." (John 9:3b) Can you imagine how many times that blind man had wished or cried himself to sleep over his lack of sight? Yet, it was all for God's glory. You know, if I have a weakness that I just can't stand - like being blind or even short - it's good to know that it is not for no apparent reason. I think that all people have some sort of inherent weakness, but that those weaknesses are merely places for God's power to enter in and show Himself. He is made strong in our weaknesses. If I must endure through my weaknesses, then, oh how I pray that I would do it for God's glory and exaltation. Dear Jesus, let me carry my weaknesses that your strengths may be displayed through my life.
