A Prayer

Jesus, you created me that I might bring you praise and that my life might glorify you. You created me to enjoy and to take pleasure in you precisely because you are Good. Life, then, is all about taking joy in and pleasing you. Let me not focus on how I continuously fall short, but on how you continuously reign supreme. Your supremacy does not rely on my attitude towards you… the world is not on my shoulders… it works fine without me because it is upheld by you and you alone. This makes you all the greater and me all the more in awe of who you are. Let my focus be on your majesty that it might prod me to please you by enjoying you. That’s what you want. I pray, then, that my behavior and actions would reflect your glory and bring you ultimate praise.
