Crazy how time flies.
Tomorrow* I start my first day of my third year of college. WHAT?! I'm already in my third year of college? What happened to the first two? What happened to my third grade marble parties or my 7th grade locker? I remember I used to be really excited to start the first day of school; I looked forward to wearing a brand new outfit (where every single article of clothing, right down to my socks, was clean, never-been-worn, and crisply ironed), sporting my new backpack around, organizing my desk, going on the giant slide on the playground for the first time since last school year, decorating my locker, seeing old friends again...
And now I enter this school year... which is totally different. My first class turns out to be soccer (!!!!!), which means no brand spanking new outfits for me (come to think of it, it probably won't be a clean outfit either and it will definitely won't be crisply ironed). I won't get to sport any brand new backpack, but will be using the same ol' book bag I had last year which, coincidentally, was used by my mom when she was in college and, before that, by my grandmother. As for organizing a desk or decorating a locker, well, college doesn't really offer those anymore. Instead, I've been busily (and happily!) organizing and decorating my apartment (which has been loads of fun!!)! Talk about a huge change. Haha, and I guess I won't be trying out that giant slide, since Biola doesn't have one... but honestly, trying out the caf's breakfast granola for the first time since last school year will definitely top any playground slide experience I might be missing out on. Plus, instead of catching up with old friends, I'm LIVING with them! No more recess for us... we get sleepovers and family dinners every night!
So... college is a lot different than elementary school. But I definitely look forward to my first day of school just as much, if not more, than I did back then. Most of all, I can't wait to see what God will teach me through the year, the obstacles I will overcome through Him, or the valuable time spent with friends (whether sharing about what God is doing in our lives or waving out the apartment window to campus security). I am so excited for it all; bring it on!
*I guess it's more like "today"... depending on how you see 3 o'clock in the morning. Speaking of which, why in the world am I up so late the night before my first day of school? The homework overload hasn't even started yet!

Yes - the older your get, the faster time flies. But, it's good to see what God is doing in your life right now. 3:00 in the morning, that's crazy talk!!
3 o'clock in the morning!!! The day is already shot, may as well go out for coffee and doughnuts. Or an egg sandwich, your call.
