Geneva, Switzerland

Alright alright... so I know I'm a little behind on my blog. Especially seeing as I've been in the Netherlands now for almost 3 weeks and still haven't written about Geneva, Switzerland. What's worse is that I've had internet the whole time I've been in the Netherlands... which means I could have done it ages ago and helped keep my audience loyal. I've noticed a reverse mode in regards to blogging and internet access; the more internet access I have, the less likely I am to keep my blog updated. I attribute this to the fact that when I have unlimited internet access, I tell myself not to worry about it now since I can just update the blog later. But when I have limited internet access, time is of the essence... which means I am more likely to do the essentials (i.e. blog) right away.

That being said, here are some pics from our stay in Geneva:

We visited the WTO - World Trade Organization. This is the whole group from Biola on the trip.

...
We took a day trip up to Mt. Blanc in Chamonix, France (about 30 minutes from our residence in Geneva).

Heading up the gondola (it took 2 gondolas then an elevator to get to the top)

Lunch break and nap at the top!

Favorite Memory:
When two friends and I were escorted by police back to our hotel. I definitely never saw this one coming, but that's the nature of nerve-wracking/crazy situations... they always turn out fine in the end and make for great memories!

After a long day out in Geneva, Ali, Ryan and I decided to head back to our hotel for the night; it was getting late and we weren't sure when the bus system stopped. We hopped on the bus/metro headed towards our residence (it's a wonder in the first place that we finally found a bus stop, and the *right* bus stop at that). But half-way through the bus ride, the bus stopped, the driver said he was done for the night, kicked us off (literally), and left us on the street with NO idea where our hotel was from there. Of course, none of us was brilliant enough to have brought a map and pretty much nobody was around on the streets at that hour anymore, which meant there was nobody to ask. Instead, we just relied on our own internal compasses and started walking. (Really had no clue where we were going, just based it all off guesses.) Eventually, we saw flashing lights ahead of us; looked like a few cops were patrolling some sort of restaurant or bar. Ali, in her confident and outgoing spirit, couldn't have been more excited to see the cops. Before Ryan and I could say or do anything, she went straight up to one of the officers and asked how to get back to our hotel. He said it was really complicated and that we’d have to get a cab (that would most likely cost an arm and a leg). Bummer. But after we asked where to catch a cab and how much it would cost and how to tell them where we needed to go, the officer consulted another officer and the two just decided it would be easier to drive us back themselves.

So, long story short, we ended up getting a free/safe escort in a cop car in Switzerland, all the way back to our hotel, without even committing a crime. How can you top that?

To be continued...

Next stop:
Oisterweijk, Netherlands
