Yes, at a local zoo in Panama City Beach, Florida a depressed orangutan finally found happiness in T.K., a stray tabby cat. I'm totally serious.
Apparently, Tondalayo, a 45 year old Sumatran Orangutan lost her mate several years ago. Because of her old age, Tondalayo was unable to transfer zoos or find a new partner. Due to this disheartening history, Tonda (as zookeepers have nicknamed her) has experienced a rather abysmal life the past couple years. When Stephanie Willard, the Education Director at Zoo World came across an abandoned tabby cat, however, the depression was over. T.K. (Tondalayo's Kitty) and Tonda became fast friends and both have been happy ever since.
So, if you happen to own an orangutan, I suppose the moral you could pull out of this story would be this: If you want your Sumatra to play, you have to find a stray.
