I fell asleep on my daddy’s arm the other day. It was just a short nap, but it reminded me of what eternity will be like some day. There I was, resting my head on the arm of the only man on earth who I am comfortable doing that with, who I trust completely, who loves me as a father and who can call me his own daughter. I didn’t mind resting in his arms because I felt safe there and because I love and trust my daddy.
Small as this nap may seem, it reminds me that one day, I will curl up in the arms of my Big Daddy in Heaven, for eternity. One day, I will gaze at my Creator’s face, hear His voice speaking directly to me, and rest fully surrendered in His warm embrace. The idea is incredible to me; the same arms that set the moon in the sky, formed the mountains, calmed the seas, healed the lame, and were nailed to a cross… will one day wrap around me.
That’s why I celebrate Christmas - because on this day, years ago, God offered a gift to mankind… a gift that would enable all who trust in Him to one day be enveloped by His majesty. I look forward, with all anticipation, to the day that I will be held by the One who is sovereign, mighty, eternal, beautiful, true, good, love, deserving, perfect, excellent, powerful, hero, 100%, ultimate, above, jealous, King – I will one day rest my head in HIS arms. And there, I will forever be safe… all because of a little baby born in Bethlehem.
Thank you Jesus and Happy Birthday!
