Oh Wow...

I just read the last post I wrote in 2008, reflecting on the different themes I'd thought about throughout the year and wondering about what would happen in this year (2009). I totally remember writing that blog... it wasn't that long ago. I remember sitting in my chair at my tiny little desk in my bedroom, typing on my laptop and staying up way too late for a non-school night, just to finish a blog. And now here I am, doing the same thing in the same place... only one year later. No way could a whole year have passed between then and now! But then I think about everything that's happened since then. And all I can say is, "Oh wow." A lot has happened during this one year period; a lot of opportunities rose and a lot of decisions had to be made. A lot of exciting things happened, but also a lot of unexpected events.

Highlights:

January--taking my first class at a non-private school. Driving to and from Biola and home almost every day for 3 weeks. Getting hired as an elementary coordinator at my church (my first real job!).
February--getting baptized. Seeing my grandparents come to church. Writing/signing a commitment to purity and receiving my purity ring.
March--campaigning for a position in Biola's student government (senator for the Bluff)
April--Applying and getting accepted on the China trip... and realizing it wasn't the right time for me to go.
May--Big family reunion.
June--Cutting my hair. Summer Camp and being a counselor for 5th and 6th grade girls.
July--family vacation to the East Coast.
August--Starting my position as Senator. Starting my 3rd year of college. Living in an apartment (with my best friends!).
September--Turning 20. Getting flowers for my birthday for the first time. Being involved in 5 different athletic opportunities on campus (soccer, bowling, volleyball, frisbee, jogging).
October--Camping in Yosemite. Roommate gets engaged!
November--watching the wedding of my first high school friend to get married.
December--getting accepted for the summer study abroad program! listening to Phil Wickham's new cd (I'm only a little excited about this...)

Things to look forward to in 2010:

January--traveling to Rome, Italy!!!
Summer--10 week study abroad program in Europe (10 different countries!). Roommate getting married.
Fall--New job/internship?

I had no idea 2009 would hold so much. And now I enter 2010. I wish I could say I was prepared, but if the past offers any suggestion of the future, I'm realizing that Solomon was absolutely right - Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:21)

So... cheers! Cheers to the LORD'S purpose in 2010.

*Also, I have a question: Tomorrow will be a new year. But I'm going to feel silly if I can't pronounce it correctly. So, is that two-thousand-ten or twenty-ten???

a. I love your blog and I have loved seeing God take you on this adventure this past year.
b. Can't wait for more adventures in 2010*

*I'm leaning towards two-thousand-ten because it doesn't sound as much like an updated washing machine... but i'll probably end up saying 2010 out of convenience...

I thought things to look forward to in 2010 would include: Only 1 class with Chris instead of 3 =)
