I could not fall asleep for the life of me last night because I was SOOOO excited! I'm expecting a similar event tonight, reasons being...
-I leave for Rome in less than 30 hours from now!
-My roommate just got engaged last night!!
-I just found out yesterday that I might have an awesome opportunity for a really fun job on campus next year!!!
Excited? Hardly. Stoked? To the max.
The laundry is half done, John Climacus' "The Ladder of Divine Ascent" begs to be read (another 170 pages before the trip), the financial aid center must be called, school registration must be completed, mascara must be bought, money must be transferred, iPod must be charged, memory cards must be found, and shoes must find a way to stuff into the suitcase... yet here I am blogging, too excited and scatterbrained to focus on any one task (it will be a wonder if I somehow get this blog posted).
I'm hoping to be able to blog briefly during the trip, just to give updates or short stories, but when in Rome... well, we'll see what happens.
On another note, God romanced me today by people. As I went around running errands today, people just kept making me laugh and smile. For the most part, these were people that weren't even talking to me and probably didn't even know I was there. They weren't trying to be funny, but they just made me smile because of the way they were so attached to items they were going to buy or to the people they were talking to or just because I was watching their interactions and facial expressions when they had no idea. I don't know, I know this is a weird one, but just by watching people today, I felt like God was romancing me as if to say... this is how I watch you. I was reminded that He takes joy in watching me and loves to see me smile and rejoicing because of the gifts He's given me.

Guess what?! Your books are all read, your shoes finally crammed into your suitcase, and you're in ROME right now!! I hope you have a spectacular trip! And very cool way of thinking about God romancing you. I can totally picture you walking around Target by yourself busting up, thinking about God's hidden messages in life. ;)
