As I Write

As I begin to write an 8 page paper tonight, due tomorrow morning, I am reminded of God's reminder to me yesterday... that I am not a slave to anything, that I am have no "image" to live up to, that I am God's daughter, and that my Daddy has set me free.

Dear Jesus,
Help me to remember that this paper doesn’t have to be stellar. Help me to remember that it is only a rough draft. Help me to focus and have motivation while I’m writing it. Help me to see it as a way to learn more about you as I discover more about the culture of China. Help me to realize that while there are a lot of special quotes I can add-in and a lot of unique ways I can phrase things, that this paper will inevitably not turn out to be as amazing as I want. Help it to be a reflection of my relationship with you. Let me glorify you by writing a good paper, but more than that, by recognizing your character through my discoveries in the paper and by understanding that it doesn’t glorify you to stress out over perfecting a rough draft. I am not a slave to “perfectionism.” I am your daughter.
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free!" -Galatians 5:1a

And as I sit next to you as your still typing away, I thank God for the perspective he's given you.
