The reason that Easter is so great is because both you and I are going to die. But the sting of death is gone! Which means there is NOTHING to fear!
...
I hate bees. You never know what to do around them—if you move a lot and try to scare one away, you end up provoking the bee to sting you. But if you sit calmly and do nothing, it’s sure to land on you and sting you anyways. Basically, bees put you in a lose-lose situation that you can do little to avoid.
But what if the bee didn’t have a stinger? What if it still buzzed around and pollinated, but you knew it couldn’t hurt you? For one thing, you wouldn’t have to worry about what you should do around it. For another, you wouldn’t be intimidated by it; in fact, you might even try to catch it for a fun bee-pet!!!
Silliness aside, death is a fact. Just like bees. And, like bees, death is no laughing matter. Face it; we’re all going to die someday. All of us. And no matter how healthy we try to be, there’s nothing we can do to avoid that death or keep it from coming.
“Death is still the most democratic institution on earth—one death per person!” – Tom MercerBut if death is like a bee, then Jesus has conquered that bee. He has taken its little stinger away so that even though death still exists, it has NO final victory. My sinless Savior died. He died for me and for you—that pardoned all our sins! But then… He rose from the dead! Death did not conquer; my Jesus conquered! The sting of death is sin, but Jesus eliminated that sin through his death and then he returned from death! Talk about *MORE THAN CONQUEROR*! Now sin has NO power over those who are with Christ, which means… Death is still a reality, but it cannot wreak havoc on those who believe Christ. The stinger is gone; there is no reason to be intimidated! Death is beaten! Thank you JESUS!
